what is alfredo and how is it made

Alfredo is a heavenly creamy sauce that is made from butter and milk, sometimes cream for the extra creamy taste. It is commonly added in pasta creating the white looking sauce that is commonly topped of with a cheese like parmesan.

Alfredo is made by melting butter then adding a thickener like plain flour, once your flour and butter have combined, add the milk and cream. Whisk the sauce until a thick white sauce is formed. Top the sauce with your favorite cheese and salt.

Ingredients
  

  • 180 grams linguine pasta spaghetti will do too
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 white onions finely chopped
  • 1 green pepper
  • 4 pieces shoulder bacon
  • 150 grams mushroom sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 3 tsp mixed herb
  • 2 tsp spice for rice
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • ½ tbsp plain flour
  • 1 cup full fat milk
  • ½ cup cream

Instructions
 

  • Cook your linguine by placing water and salt into a pot on high heat, once your water starts to boil add your linguine and allow it to cook until it is al dante
  • Once your linguine is cooked drain it and set it aside.
  • In a large pan heat your oil on medium heat and fry your bacon. Once it is cooked set it aside.
  • In the same pan add your butter along with your onions, allow your onions to brown before adding your green peppers and mushroom.
  • In the meantime chop your bacon into bite-sized pieces. Then add it to your vegetables.
  • Once your vegetables have cooked, add the spices along with flour and stir well.
  • Once everything has combined add your milk and cream. Stir well and allow your sauce to thicken.
  • Lastly add in your cooked linguine, stir well and enjoy.
