The most-loved puff pastry is the best pastry to use for this recipe. Puff pastry is thick enough to hold the ground beef filling without sogging and is also thin enough to give the pies a flaky and crisp skin which is what we all look forward to when having pies.
So if you want to snack on these instead of having them as a meal then follow all the given steps normally. The only difference is that you now need to cut them into 2 cm long ‘mini pies’ before baking then bake them for 5 minutes shorter than the normal baking time, this is due to the smaller size of the pie.
Prepare all your vegetables by pre-chopping your onions, peppers and defrosting your ground beef. Don’t forget to measure out all the spices needed. This helps in making the process of making these pies faster.
Mix your ground beef, chopped vegetables and spices along with your egg in a medium bowl. Make sure you stir well to get a good balance of spices in your pies.
Now roll out your pastry into four equal pieces unto your floured baking tray (unless you are plannng on making sausage rolls) and place medium portions of the mince mixture onto your pastry as shown in the image below.
Now, fold your pastry over making the uncooked ‘pie’ shape, make sure to use a fork to seal the ends and make slight openings for steam t escape whilst cooking.
Bake the pastry according to the instructions and enjoy with your favourite tomato sauce and drink of choice
