Mcdonald’s copycat pancakes recipe (quick and easy hotcakes)
This fluffy pancakes recipe is a delicious breakfast that uses simple ingredients to make McDonald’s pancakes. This single bowl McDonald’s hotcakes recipe tastes exactly like the original, making it the best pancake recipe out there.
How to make McDonald’s pancake batter
Dry ingredients needed:
Baking powder: This is the second raising agent that will aid in making light pancakes.
Self-raising flour: This aids in making the fluffiest pancakes that are light and cook well on a frying pan.
White sugar: White sugar tends to be more refined, making it perfect for a smooth hotcakes batter.
Salt
Wet ingredients needed:
Vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla essence and buttermilk:
Buttermilk is more acidic than ordinary milk, making the pancake batter richer and more flavour packed. The acidity found in buttermilk aids in activating the raising agents which then produce fluffy pancakes.
In a large mixing bowl, add the dry ingredients and mix well using a wire whisk. Once this is done, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk well. If you would like to personalise the recipe, add chocolate chips to the pancake batter and mix well.Preheat a non-stick frying pan on medium heat and lightly oil the pan with vegetable oil, preferably canola or sunflower oil.Once the pan is hot, place an eighth cup of pancake batter into the centre of the hot pan. Once the batter bubbles, flip the pancakes, and cook for two minutes or until the batter looks like golden brown hotcakes. Repeat this process until the batter is finished. To remove excess oil, place the pancakes onto a paper towel.
What to add to pancake batter:
There are many ingredients that can be added to pancake batter to enhance its flavor and texture. Here are a few suggestions:
Blueberries, strawberries, or other fruits
Fold fresh or frozen berries into your pancake batter for a burst of fruity flavor. Chocolate chips – Stir in a handful of chocolate chips to your pancake batter for a sweet and indulgent treat.
Vanilla extract
Add a teaspoon or two of vanilla extract to your pancake batter to give it a delicious vanilla flavor.
Cinnamon
Sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon into your pancake batter for a warm and cosy flavor.
Lemon zest
Grate some fresh lemon zest into your pancake batter for a bright, citrusy flavor.
Chopped nuts
Add some chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds to your pancake batter for a crunchy texture and nutty flavor. Continue with the normal recipe after stirring in the extra toppings.

Toppings to use for this copycat recipe
Delicious toppings are vital when it comes to making the best breakfast. Below is a list of toppings that will make the perfect breakfast combo these toppings also pair well with our pannekoek recipe:
freshly-cut fruit: Freshly-cut fruit aids in adding a healthy and fresh element to your pancake breakfast which is a good thing for those on a calorie diet.
Topping with different syrups: Maple-flavored syrup is a great and pocket-friendly topping for this Mcdonalds recipe. Nothing beats hotcakes that are drowning in delicious maple-flavored syrup.
If you crave something a bit more intriguing, you should go for a buttered pecan syrup topping. This is my favorite way of enjoying this McDonald’s pancake recipe.

how to store cooked pancakes
If you have leftover pancakes that you would like to store for later consumption, you can follow these simple steps:Let the pancakes cool down to room temperature, then place them in an airtight container or a ziplock bag, making sure to separate each pancake with a single layer of wax paper or parchment paper. Label the container or plastic wrap with the date of storage, then store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days for the next time you have pancake cravings.
how to freeze and reheat pancakes (useful when making a large batch)
The best way to freeze pancakes is to let the pancakes cool down to room temperature, then place a layer of baking sheet paper or parchment paper between each pancake to prevent them from sticking together. Stack the pancakes neatly and place them in a freezer-safe, airtight container or freezer bag. Label the container or bag with the date of freezing then place the container or bag in the freezer.
When you are ready to eat the frozen pancakes, you can either:
Microwave: Microwave the frozen pancakes for about 30-60 seconds, or until heated through.
Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F or 176 degrees Celsius. Place the frozen pancakes on a baking sheet and bake them for 5-10 minutes, or until heated through.
Toaster: Place the frozen pancakes in a toaster and toast them until heated through.
Once the delicious pancakes have heated, you can enjoy them with your favorite toppings.
